Throughout my upbringing I was immersed in the agriculture community whether it be through my love for hunting and fishing or my active participation in Future Famers of America. During my FFA career I was involved in multiple speaking engagements and had a constant insight on the benefits that agriculture provides.
With hunting and fishing having such an immense impact on my life, many of my interests strive to better the negative stigma that they endure. My goal is enlighten the world with information that provides a better insight on how hunting and fishing are key to maintaining an agricultural equilibrium.
My ambitions to inform society led me to pursue Agriculture Communications and Journalism at Texas A&M University. I believe I can better the agricultural community by providing factual insight on topics that most people may misconstrue as an adverse effect due to propaganda provided by the media.
Being fully dedicated to my work is one of my greatest qualities. In the work place I strive to always be the best I can and constantly try to improve in every area. My work ethic is based solely on improving, not only myself but the company as well. Being able to not only be a successful leader but also a follower is one of my strong points.
Most of my world and political news comes from conservative sources, since I tend to have similar views as the broadcasters. With technology being a necessity in my daily life I consume most of news through an online source. My primary source of any news is via social media; I then follow up on the topic through an online platform to gain a full insight on the story.
Enhancing my critical thinking is a key underlying factor in many of the courses I am currently in, working toward earning my degree. Many of the assignments I have completed involve critical thinking to form a point of view and chose my standing on a topic.
It is crucial to continuously have new information and be up to date on all stories that involve agriculture. Most of the information related to my industry comes from online research since agricultural news is not as popularly broadcasted as others. In order to stay on top of all the new information in agriculture I search online platforms weekly.
Maintaining a balance between personal and work life is essential to being successful. In order to obtain a balance in my life I plan meticulously and leave time for unforeseen challenges. I always assure leisure time to counteract the stress of a busy workweek. I enjoy having extra time in my day to just unwind. I also enjoy traveling to different areas and being able to be fully submerged in a new culture.
To prepare myself for my career I have gained insight through courses and first-hand through internships. My courses are informing of the skills needed and the internships allow me to showcase them in real world settings. I have taken internships in various fields of communications to get a better sense of what piques my interest.
In 50 years I would like to have contributed a new platform to provide information more readily to the public. The information provided would be well construed and thoroughly researched so the consumer knows the facts of the subject without biased propaganda, in order to lure them into agreeing with the producer.
